Hi everyone I just came across this pen and ink section here at ArtPapa. Here is a link to my latest ink drawing that i already posted at mike's wildlife drawings: http://www.artpapa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21921&highlight=tiger+wip
I'm a newbie here and I figured I'd post first here in the Pen and Ink forum because that's what I mainly do. I'm going to be trying out some oil painting which is how I found this site, so maybe you'll see some of my efforts from that pretty soon. Anyway, here are a few of my...
Anyone know any details regarding the tools/techniques of the late Edward Gorey? Trying to capture his skies, but keep coming up with black mud instead of the very dark woodcut look he was able to get.
I'm almost finished this drawing of a squirrel. I find the shadow between the tail and back is a bit too severe, and the tree bark is ordinary.
I hope next year my skill will be better. This took me 1 hour to finish.

New to this forum. Bring with me a few ink drawings of my brother who is not able to communicate in English, but anxious to share his ideas. He is award-winning artist in China. Anyway, take a look and let me/him know what you think. Sister of WINDSONG
Here is my latest work in progress. It's a layered pen drawing - this is four layers, so far. See my previous post for more explanation, but basically I'm trying to duplicate the intaglio/etching process that I love so much, in a digital fashion. Any feedback is appreciated. I'm in a show on...
I was living on a glacier for a week this summer, and all we had time for as quick sketches (and all we could carry that high up the mountain as small sketchbooks and a few pens/pencls) This was my favorite sketch, I plan to use it in drawing a bigger version with a different medium, I tried it in...
Let me know if the lines on the bottom left arm are too distracting and if i should make the impression of form there or if it works fine how it is.
The pen projects arent really pieces or anything at all just me trying to test out how pen looks on paper. For the ocean and wierd looking boat thingy the pens i was using ran out of ink tried to use different ones but they didnt blend. The mountain was a gel pen i believe i was gonna go into...
I would like to post a pen and ink that I have sold but do make prints to sell of. It is titled Man In The Sea and is a pen and ink on 75 lb sketch rough bond paper, size 11'’ x 14'’ all comments are welcome.
Boat Wreck P&I WIP
This is not a sketch this is the first piece that i will consider (finished) at the end lol. My family is currently going through a rough time with my brother. He has a mental illness and is currently in a VERY unhealthy state so the longer he stays in this state the more likely his brain...
There is no deep meaning in this one. I just had fun using the ballpoint pen and i remembered how much fun an ink pen was so i just had to do this one. The message in this i wanted to convey using legs and feet (since i seem to use hands alot). And the message is simple. Being eager to move...
Hello, this is my first post. I found this great site yesterday. It corresponds with my renewed interest in art. Years ago I dabbled in pen and ink, acrylics, watercolor and some oil. I happened to have 3 of my pen and ink drawings on my computer and will post them. The quality of the scans is...
Jesus Christ riding into Jerusalem is something special to me and many others! This drawing consist of a person riding an animal, crowd, buildings, colors and completed as an impression. In the old days I ran across some Lindy colored pens and started focusing in on using them more than details....
I spent prolly 45 minutes to an hour on this. Using 2 colored crayon (pencils). 3 black pens, 1 blue pen, 1 ink pen. And one blending marker, one dry-erase board marker, and one highlighter (orange). This is just the basic layout and or idea of the piece (if i do choose to finish). Let me...
lol when i was in highschool my art teachers let me do watever i wanted pretty much as long as i finished enough pieces by the end of the year. They let me take as long as i wished on my project (some gave me an objective some told me to just be creative). So I was always lucky to just sit down...
This is my first attempt of pointillism.. let me know what you think. He is wearing a helmet, so that is a strap across his face.
Van Gogh the fantastic impressionist rides again via this drawing. Red and blue beard and other brilliant colors indicates how pictures work even if normaility is changes. Is it pretty as a picture? Hopefully this range of colors works for you as a viewer? :-D Jerry Stith

Do not condemn for grammatic mistakes. I know foreign languages a little. I shall show figures from Russia.
I have hovered around artpapa and I am so amazed by the brilliant works that are shown and would be obliged for any comments on my work. Attached is a 1st stage pen drawing that I am working on, it took approx 3 hours. Paper is Goldline 200gsm A3 cartridge paper - and I use a fineliner 0.3mm...

PEN & INK Pointalism...... Thanks Warren
Hi, its been a while since my last visit on this forum. Lost my interrest in drawing a bit, and had to much work to be done. However tonight i sketched on a piece of notebook paper, and this came out of my BIC ballpen. Could be done quicker though with much better light.
I did this pen and ink drawing from life and from photo reference
I restarted drawing again after a pause of over a year. This drawing was completed about a week ago. The subject has the least amount of ink, which is the the opposite of most of my drawings. Ren

Well, I´m new on this site and this is an old work, a little ruined due to excess of ink, but one of my favorites.
Leonardo DA VINCI (b. 1452, Vinci, Republic of Florence --d. May 2, 1519, Cloux, Fr.), Italian painter, draftsman, sculptor, architect, and engineer whose genius, perhaps more than that of any other figure, epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal. His Last Supper (1495-97) and Mona Lisa (1503-06)...

Hello, my name is Greg and I’m new to the forum. I normally work in graphite but decided to try my hand at Pointillism. My hat’s off to any of you who have mastered this technique. I found it to be very tedious and time consuming but at the same time very rewarding, I think I'm hooked. Size: ...
I drew this lion in ink on an old exterior roller blind over 30 yrs ago. It was rolled up roughly when I refound it again and the edges of the blind were starting to crack and layer peel so I wrapped it around a piece of chipboard and thought nothing more about it. Now I want to try and preserve it...
Quill on paper. Dalai Lama and Head of Girl.
Started a portrait per how I explained my new "style" in the last post about the tree.... Anyway - here is four layers - I am thinking about adding some shading to the background with some kind of tinting method... haven't figured anything out yet. Thanks for any criticisms! Jon

Hi all, Well, I was posting consistenly (sort of) a while ago, trying to get back into doing art. I was doing charcoal drawings... I fell back out of it. My true passion is printmaking - etchings in particular. That is what I loved, and that is what I did.... when I had the equipment,...
