I haven't been here in a while, and I can hardly keep up with all the posts! You guys are busy artists!

I want to thank those of you who visited my sister and my Blue Castle web-site and signed the guestbook! I'm glad you liked it. I didn't see that you signed it until yesterday. (If anyone else is interested, the URL is: http://home.earthlink.net/~merritt1/family/CastleSplashPage.html) Annie says it needs to be updated, and it does. We have some rather funny/strange stories there, but I hope you don't find it too silly. My sisters have talent in art, too, which you can see there.

My new art site, which is under construction, is here: http://missy_art.tripod.com

Tell me what you think &/or sign the guestbook, please!

I have been busy working on an article about Victorian clothing for a magazine. (I hope to get it published and get paid for it.) I drew (with a pen) a picture of a hoop skirt dress to go with it, and I'm working on two other colored pencil/ink drawings of Victorian clothing shop windows (one for men; one for women). Hopefully I'll be able to show them here after I'm done. They aren't masterpieces, exactly--they're line drawings--but they're cute.

Just thought you might want to know what I've been up to.

Some day I hope to get back to drawing Princess Diana.

Hi Melissa,
Your new site is nice, what I like is looking at your art through the years. It's like watching growth and maturity.

I hope your article goes well.
As always I look forward to your next post.

Steve

Thanks, Matti. Yes, I know my new site is kind of simple and cold, but I wanted it to be simple and I love lavender... Maybe I should add some warmer tones, though.

I loved your site. I read all of your stories. They were great. I also play a word game where you pick 3 words & you have to use them in any order in the first paragraph. I'll have to try out your system now. I loved seeing all of the terrific artwork from you & your sisters. Did you & your sisters all start drawing from a young age? Did all of you take art classes or are all of you self-taught, except for advice from your sister? Everyone is so talented. Can I have the link to the creative writing courses. I'd like to take a look. Maybe you could write & illustrate a book. Wouldn't that be fun!

Thanks, Phil! Yes, we do have lots of interests, and I also play the piano. It is sometimes hard to find time, but I don't have a job (except for helping out around the house), so it's not usually too hard. Drawing is actually one of my "lesser" hobbies--one I don't enjoy quite as much as writing or playing piano. (I take so long on my drawings because I only work on them sporadically and a few minutes to a half an hour on the days I do work on them.)

Thanks, pencilartist! I'm glad you like our stories and artwork! Yes, we all started drawing at pretty young ages, especially me, I guess. My oldest sister took painting classes for a little while, but neither Annie or I took classes, so we only got some advice from Grace. My parents used to draw/paint when they were a lot younger, so I guess that's where our talent comes from.
Yes, I'd LOVE to write & illustrate a book.--I'm hoping to one day!

Oh, the URL to the writing site is: http://www.writersvillage.com/
It doesn't have teachers, but it is a pretty good place. For some classes you have to buy books, but you can choose which classes you want to take and there are a lot of different ones. It's $79 for a 1-year membership (mine's just about expired), but there are also some free classes which I haven't tried yet.
