"LOTR/Ringwraiths finished"

YAY! I managed to finish it!
This blade took about 2 hours to render, the whole pic took about 8-9 hours.

What do you guys think?

It looks really great prox (I'm lazy, so forgive me for shortening your name ) Its a whole story. I love that old blade. I can see why it took so long. And the background looks great, I remember you saying you had to make a lot of it up because you didn't like the reference's background.

The only comment I have that's not "LOVE IT" is the other blade looks so bright white, almost like you haven't shaded it yet. It would look more like a metallic material with a little shading. (Of course this may just be the pic didn't pick it up and I'm totally off!)

Can't wait to see the next one.

Oh thanks a lot for the kind comments. I'm adding the reference, well the other blade was bright white there too, cause of the angle of the light I guess.

My goals here were
1- make the robes thicker
2-make that blade look older and darker
3-render the arch behind little sharper, since it was sort of blurry on the reference
4- and make the whole scene creepier

I changed some stuff as you see, also used no grid whatsoever aid, even though I scaled up the printout. you will laugh at this but I looked at the monitor for reference most of the time, since the printo
uts lacked the detail no matter the quality of the paper

and here goes the reference:

sweet job with it. looks great! i would have to agree with beth about the left blade. i think you should change it from what the ref image shows..give it some texture. its hard to get that bright glare in a drawing. other than that i think it looks fantastic! great job

by the way, what kind of pencils did you use? is it graphite or charcoal? and its on bristol board, correct?

This is sooooo cool!!! It's amazing how much doing something in graphite/charcoal alters the feel of an image. You have a terrific style, it reminds me of my college art professor's. I love his work. Here is a link just in case you wanted to check it out.

The bright blade might benefit from just a tad bit of soft shading. The other blade looks fantastic!

Well done!!

Thank you

Looks great! And the subject is totally unique.

Just a few tips you would like to consider: Now its time to use Blu-tack (or something else) to find all the highlites, there are plenty of them in the ref pic. I would also recommend you find all the sharp edges. Use soft mechanical pencil to enhance sharpness everywhere where needed.

The drawings now in the stage where its very rewarding to do these finishing things. I love to do the final touches, but who doesnt
