Hi Jenni, how long did you spend with such great drawing as this? Not very long since you asked about the reference yesterday...

I thought also drawing from the same pic (I am not sure though). I like especially the hair. Some people said that my Marilyns hair is too stiff, here its not so. I guess this is what makes it more alive

Terrific job!! The only thing that stands out to me is that white line of highlight on the side of her face and her left nostril.

This is exceptional for the small amount of time you did it in. It takes me forever to just draw a nose! I am amazed at the quality of work you all are doing in only a few hours!

Thank you

thanks guys. MHK I asked you about the ref pic on Jan 14th, about 4 days ago. The picture took me about 8 hours. The highlights you see on the side of the nose and the side of the face are in the reference picture. I thought they made the face look too shiny, but without them it didnt look right somehow.

Thanks for the nice comments
Jenni

That looks really good! One thing I noticed was that the base of the hair looks too abrupt--some little fuzzy hairs around the forehead would help. Great work, though!

thanks vicklyn, I couldnt do blonde hair or any hair for that matter either. All I did was follow JD's instructions in his book practised that. I still have a long way to go , but I'm happy with the way the hair turned out.

I like this drawing, Great contrast, and depth. But I also agree with Donna about the highlight "a little poppy".

I remember you stopped working on a drawing a while back because of Blonde hair. Dare we say another mountain conquered?

Great hair!!

Thanks Marc,
Yes I know what you mean about the highlights. I still have a tendency to draw what I see, sometimes even what I think I see. The highlights looked very bright to me , even making her skin look waxy, but until I included them it just didn't look right. I need to step back and see what I think of it, and not compare it to the original.

As for the hair, yes you're right , blonde hair has been a nightmare for me, and oh boy I hope it's another mountain conquered!!!
I'm working on a piece of shirley temple right now, that's blonde and curly!! (maybe i've bitten of more than I can chew)

Jenni
