"WIP finished...I didn't draw shiny"

Well, I think I am finished with this. I decided to just go easy with the shirt since I spent so much time on the girl's hair. I did a much better job on her.

It's not perfect but I am happy with it. I have to mail it tomorrow so if anything needs a fixin, let me know.

Thank you

Very great! I dont think going easy was bad decision at all, now the shirt looks realistic enough and sure nobody knows in the reference pic hes wearing a shiny shirt. Of course then it would have been separated better from girls shirt though.

This looks great and very much the same as the photo. The girls hair is fabulous

   Donna,

this is great - I really love how you drew her hair too. I also love his hair (head and facial!) - I saw from the previous drawing how cool the detail is.

I agree with Matti - it doesn't matter that you drew the shirt 'non-shiny'.

Great work.

Becky.

Thanks so much PFOX, MHK, and Rebecca! After having such a long break from drawing I am really struggling to get back into the swing of things.

I agree with the shirt, it does fade into her's too much but I ran out of time. The hair took awhile. I didn't blend the hair at all and I am wondering if I should have, to give it a softer appearance. Oh well, too late now.

Thank you

Your portrait looks great!

Quote I decided to just go easy with the shirt.....

I'm glad you did! I really think this shirt is preferable to the shiny one which, to my eye, was too distracting. And don't worry about separating the two shirts. Mixes like this happen naturally and the viewer will easily find his or her own visual answer if they need one.

The combination of shirts has done its job - it's concentrated the viewer's eye on the faces which, after all, is the whole point of the drawing.

IMHO I think it's an excellent drawing!!

Mike, thanks so much! I appreciate you taking the time to critique this! I think it turned out OK. I am lacking that detail and time commitment that you have. I usually rush after the faces and hair are done and hope for the best.

I guess once I start doing drawings that I WANT to do instead of commissions I will be able to invest more time and really concentrate on getting the details.

Thank you
