Ok is was just wondering what size paper do most of you like to draw portraits on.
Do you find it easier to get more detail on a larger sheet of paper or smaller.
I tend to draw on 11x14 smooth bristol board because I dont work well with much tooth on my paper.

I use A3 which is 11 x 14 ( I think). I find the bigger you go the more detail you can get, but that's just the way I find it. I drew one picture (buffy) on 20 x 25 inch. I found that really hard but I think it was the quality of the paper that put me off more than anything.

2. "RE: Portrait Drawing Size?"
The size of paper varies for me depending on what I am drawing. I prefer larger...18x24. The smallest I ever draw is 11x14, well unless I am forced by a client to go smaller.
Frames sure do get a lot pricer the larger you go.
The actual drawing size of a portrait to me is on a A3 size, and to always draw the portrait smaller than the actual head, if you draw the head actual size, they always look too big. Hope this helps
