I've never been to Art School myself.. Kindof leery about any of them to be honest.. I've seen too much of what is called art these days, and do not have nearly the same opinion of what they are producing as they do.. When I first started oil painting I bought about a dozen books.. After seeing what was on this site and on www.portrait-art.com, I threw all but one out.
If I could go to a school where Alexei Antonov, Frank Covino, and J.D. Hillberry were teaching (or people I knew were like them in philosophy and ability) I would feel altogether differently..
In spite of this, the one I have looked at the most is SORA (School of Representational Art) in Chicago.. (www.representational-art.com)
You might also look at www.classicalrealism.com..
following is a list of ateliers & schools..

From my totally ignorant and uneducated perspective, these seem to be places where "Art" is taught..
I would be interested in knowing what Alexei, Frank, and J.D. think on these matters..
