"Einstein"
Somebody gave me a challenge. They said if I could draw Albert Einstein then I could draw anyone LOL. I am quite happy with this drawing. It's allowed me to tackle some things I havent tried before. This is the first time I have drawn facial hair, let alone bits of white facial hair! It's also the first time I have drawn wrinkles. I know I have a long way to go but I am happy with my first attempt. The hair looks a lot better in the original . Because his hair is mostly white and the picture had a black background it made it hard for me to draw it on a white background (i'm not game enough to try a dark background yet). It has a lot of graphite grey in the hair and that hasnt shown up in this photo.
Anyhow let me know what you guys think. Thanks Jenni

Nice drawing Jenni, I've just started to draw wrinkles... it's really interesting... I can get caught up in studying them now....one thing that stands out to me is the wrinkles...they look a little hard.

I agree the wrinkles do look harsh, I think that's because its really picked up the charcoal and not the graphite. They dont look as harsh in the original. But I guess that's just something that I will have to practice.
You've got the line work down. Now you need to address the gradual shading that brings out more realism. Do you have J. D. Hillberry's book? It's taught me of some great tricks to improve the realism of a picture. Here's an example of before using the techniques in J.D.'s book and after. My family was shocked at the difference.

Thanks JT , yes I do have JD's book. I have it sitting next to me with every drawing I do and I refer to it alot during my drawing. I havent had it that long, but my drawings have improved since I've had it. I just need to learn to slow down, that's my biggest problem.
