"WIP...finished I think"

I think I am done with this but please let me know if anything stands out as odd or needs to be fixed.

This is the first dog I have ever drawn....hopefully it doesn't look like it.

I had to piece it together because it is bigger than my scanner.

Thanks for looking and I really appreciate any feedback.

Thank you

I think this work is very, very good. The dog is great too and the only thing I would do it to add some very fine hairs. What works best for me is to use my mechanical pencil and I rub the tip flat and then use the edge of the led for those hair lines. This is really good and I'm sure the parents will get a lot of joy from it!

You have done a terrific drawing dhesse!

Looks wonderful considering this was a combo of different references mixed together. Some things I noticed: Boys eyes are a little too dark (?) if compared to the girls next to him. Dogs got too rough texture if compared to the peoples smooth tones, I agree with steph that it needs some detailed hairs as well as some blending (Maybe Mike S. would know this better..). This is a personal thing here but Id like to see the outline on the boys right hand side more refined so it would pop out better from the background. Now its too soft in my opinion.

But I really love this portrait, its a great result of well compromised combination

In view of the dog in relation to the rest of the potrait, I'm not sure if the other areas should be a little darker, so the contrast between the dog's dark fur and the fair children isn't as great to be distracting. Well, IMHO anyway.

Nevertheless, the dog's hair were fabulously done, good toning and linework.

Great job!

Wow! The most people I've attempted to put together in a piece is only two. Great job.

I agree with the above criticism that the edge of the oldest boy's face should be defined a bit more to have him come out of the background. The girl to the lower right does this wonderfully. Great work.

This is an awesome drawing! You are very talented and very brave! It sure doesn't look like a composite drawing to me. I am particularly impressed with the dog. Great detail! I also agree with Matti's comments . . . his wisdom has really helped me to improve. I can't wait to see your next project.

Thank you all for your wonderful and very helpful comments!

To touch on a few, the boy has black hair, dark brown eyes and has very long dark eyelashes...the image here is a little darker than the actual drawing. The girl next to him has blonde hair and light blue eyes, would never think they are brother and sister!

The dog is black and grey with a little white here and there.

I wish I would have defined the edge better on the boy in the background...had to give it to client before I could fix it.

Anyway, I will definitely take what I learned and the valuable info. you all shared with me to the next project!

Thank you
