"WIP-my niece(updated)"

Here is the picture updated more. I got some more of the hair finished. I used a 4h pencil and stroked every strand ofhair on her then used my mech 2b pencil to put in the darker hairs. Im still trying to get better at doing hair. It just takes so long.

Anyone ever have problems layering to much graphite over top graphite? Like how many layers do most of you put into the hair?

I also adjusted the nose so it has as slight tilt.

Here is a drawing Im doing of my niece. Im probably 5 hours into the drawing. Im really taking my time laying the skin tone and building it up gradually.

Im currently working on the hair now. It takes the longest. I still need to put her eyelashes in and do some more contrast to the face. I wanted to get some of the hair done first.

I think you may have done what i always do when someone's face is on a slight angle, that is you line up the features straight more than they should be, what I'm saying is I think her nose is a little crooked, it should follow the line of her face more.
great hair though! great start.

Looking good! I agree with Jess about the nose, and the left cheek line (around the mouth & nose) seems to be too curved--should be going slightly straighter right. Keep us posted on your work!

I see the nose and the cheek thing. I didnt realize I had the nose exactly straight. Guess thats the way Im used to drawing them I should be able to erase a bit and fix it since Im not to dark.

Hi Avantar, I've been looking at your portrait for awhile now and there are two things that I've noticed...

The shading on your neice's nose needs to be lightened a bit on the ridge of the nose ... .. to me it looks like it comes to a triangular point.
The bottom lip looks a little smaller in your drawing than in the photo.... on the right hand side the bottom lip lines up to the side of the nose not the nostril as in your drawing.

The hair is coming along great... get that aggresive graphite attitude pumpin'.

Hope it helps...... it's looking really good
