"Dad (WIP)"

I'm going to put my other drawing aside for right now and go back to it later.... I'm getting to the "hate" stage and I really want to finish it!.

I've decided to start one of my Dad....he passed away 12 years ago and I'm really missing him....I'm sure this drawing will be a very emotional one.

He who works with his hands is a laborer. He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.

I've spent some wonderful time on this drawing today....even though I"ve been fighting back the tears doing it.
I'll going to take my time on this one

Thanks for the encouraging words Bill and dhesse

Hey absolute...I just updated again....and you're right ...this is a tough one. It kinda feels like my heart is in my hands (if you can understand that) .....I'm really enjoying it ...

Btw...I'm using strathmore bristol paper (vellum two-ply) and I love it!! I think it's my favorite now

The picture is great so far. But I think the only thing I see wrong is the nose may be a bit off(it may just be me). The ridge of it towards the bottom should be a bit more curved into the nose just a tad but other that that its perfect.

Thanks avantar...... I'll look at that....I'm feeling kinda bummed out with this drawing right now. I started to work on the hair about an hour ago and it looks really bad
I mean REALLY BAD.......I'd post it, but it's just laughable.

Well drawing hair is the most tedious and boring part of doing portraits. Just when I get the face done Im like oh no its onto the hair. But if you take your time on hair it will usually come out right.
