Hey Bella. I've looked at both pics and I think the hair looks great! As far as the necklace; Render all your tones with a really sharp pencil, (sandpaper it to a fine point) and blend with the tightest sharpest tortillion you have. the last two steps are highlight and shadow. Use a dark pencil(Sharp) and render your final shadow. Use your Electric eraser (Sharpened) to pull the highlight on the pendent and use the edge of a pen eraser cut flat. for the highlights on the chain.

Good luck! There's a lot of detail!

I know this drawing is giving you fits! Don't give in, Your almost there!

Quote I'm getting really frustrated with this drawing now. I just want to get it finished!
I know that just a bit of shading here and there should do it....but, I just can't get the shading right..... I haven't asked if I can show this person's photo on the web so I'll just show the area's I'm having problems with.

As far as I can see I think you have the nose a little flat. The shadows on both sides seem to be identcal and suggest that the slope is identical too. But I think you'll find there is a much harder line to the right (our right) with a stronger shadow - you are losing the sense of there being a protruding ridge.

I marked the edge below and also....

...at the base of the nose - if you look very carefully I think you can just make out a curved line curving up from the right nostril? This delineates the edge of the rounded tip to the nose. Your drawing seems to imply that we are looking at the nose straight on. But we aren't - the face is slightly turned to out right.

Oh Boy..... this is easier to see than to decribe!!!

Great job with the hair!

Thanks for pointing that out Mike....I've got my drawing out again and I'm working on it....my problem mainly stems from loosing my patience with this drawing.

I don't know if anyone else feels this way but lately, I've found that I"m really egar to start a drawing.... then... if things don't start going right, I'm ready for another one and I want to leave the drawing unfinished..... take this one for example...I started to give up then I started another one....now... I've got two going at the same time......I'm starting to struggle with the hair on that one and I'm thinking about starting another one

MMM...anyway I'll stop babbling on and go draw.

btw..... it put a huge ......MEGA big smile on my face when you commented on the hair!!

Bella, I like the way you are doin the hair. Hair like this is extremely difficult (at least to me), but seems like youve put a great effort to get the tones right. Just add some details and it will "pop".

Btw, I hate starting a new drawing, finishing it is nice. I never have more than one drawing under construction, my drawings usually take only two separate drawing sessions each.
