"Schoolboy (FINISHED)"

Heres my latest. Please tell me if I keep posting too much. This drawing was easy... so easy it took less labor hours than any of my drawing so far. I am almost completely satisfied the way it looks, I wish I can post here later the reference, I believe Ihave never got the reference so well into paper. Anyway, some details will maybe be added especially on the hat if Ive got time for that.

The working procedure was quite the same as earlier, no specific areas took time significantly more than others. Derwent F-8B was used and Nessu-tissues was used alot. If someone want to ask about drawing, please do so.

I really hope I can post the reference here later as I get permission. Feel no obligated to comment. Its just so nice to show you stuff, you really can appreciate it if it looks good and give constructive critique if it sucks.

Drawing time yesterday 5hours (face) , today 4hours (the rest of it), total 9hours. Size 8x11.

Happy christmas to all my friends!

Sucks? Nay ... on the contrary, thank you for sharing!

There is a certain softness in the skin tones, and the folds/lines are rendered well.

Just wondering, though - are the irises of the man's eyes really that large in the reference photo? They seem just a little out of proportion to me (but I may be wrong. )

Maybe youre right about irises, maybe they are slightly too large, but its too late to fix it. btw, softness has been achieved on nessus and blu-tack

Mattii.....it looks great

Hey Matti

You are posting too much and the drawing sucks!!!!

Seriously, another nice one. You showed the hat in another post and I thought you did an excellent job on it, very subtle.

Keep em coming.

Bob

awesome. when you see shapes as well as you do, who needs anatomy class? im jealous.

what is this ubiquitous blue tack? is that the stuff you ahng posters with> i asked a couple of times now but no one ansers. im beginning to suspect it is a boardsecret or something.

i dont think the irises are too big, per se. i think something else in the eye's shading is amking them look that way, but i have no idea what it is. it is super minor anyway.
nice stuff.

Thanks to everyone. Robert this is not the same drawing as in the earlier post, this hat is just what people wear here when they graduate highschool, Ive drawn about 3 graduating people so far.

Verdacchio, Blutack enables me to do things very very quick, people over there have to order it from Europe, its made by Bostik U.K., I believe its quite the same as wall putty.

Blutacks a superior blending tool, actually it puts pencildrawing totally to the whole new level technically. You can study about using it on MikeSibleys and Paul Wilkinsons website, worth checking out. I use it everywhere on skin and highlites. I was thinking about adding some info about using Blutack (the way I use it) on my website soon, I believe it enables most of the people do drawings much quickly than usually with certain methods. Some people have asked me how its possible to draw picture so fast, this is one of the main tool requirements on that among some other gimmicks.

Ok, enough this time, back to holidays

You do great work. I can't believe how realistic you can get the texture of the skin (and how fast!). I'll have to play around with wall putty to see what I can get it to do for me. The only thing I was wondering was if the bill of the hat is a little soft. I picture it being black, but it looks grey here. Hard to tell with out seing the actual photo. Thanks for posting your tips. I'm going to try them out.

Yep, I am not totally completely satisfied with the hat, but cause this is for a christmas gift I had no time to refine it. You know, some things do seem better in actual drawing, here it looks soft I have to admit that. I dont know why, usually my drawings appear the same in real life as jpeg but here its not so. Still I believe its real life appearance is better than in any of my previous works
