"Sheena"

Here´s pic from last summer. I practiced compass-measuring with this, so maybe it´s no wonder that it don´t really look like Gena Lee Nolin… but it´s still most complex picture I´ve made. Original is done on 8´ x 11´ cheap drawingpaper – which is for some reason very difficult to scan, Derwent graphite pencils (H, F, HB, 3B) blended with chamois and blue tack.
Comments and critiques are welcome.

JL

Hey JL,
This drawing is amazing!..... the only comment I can make is WOW

He who works with his hands is a laborer. He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.

awesome, goes to show you don't need expensive paper when you've got talent like that.

Tykkäsin enemmän tissi paljaana Good work JL,this is awesome as I said you earlier. I was wondering how is it possible to make face and body this small with full of details? Looks like its made on 20x30" or something

----

What paper do you use now? I noticed that though paperipiste is excellent in its own way, sometimes fibres pop up which makes dark tones impossible. Currently Iam looking for better pencils too, combined with charcoal.

Thank you Bella, Smashing Glass.
Matti, in fact I really haven´t a clue myself , it just happens - sometimes. Maybe my shortsighteness also helps, I don´t need any magnifying glass. But the paper is a bit of a problem when doing extremely small details, sharp hard pencil starts very quickly bite thru the paper when doing small details.
And unfortunately I have same kind of problems with this "Luontevat" watercolor paper when I try to get very dark tones, maybe charcoal is better in those or black pastell.
BTW here´s my smallest face to this day, in my pic her head is 4,3cm high.

Thanks, Jim. Your Hudson Leick looks great, have you send any of you pieces to her fan page?
Thanks, Phil. Maybe its that Chernobyl residue that has made some mutations, at least my home town Tampere was quite hot spot after that one .
Im probably slowest pencil in the north
, almost every pic takes at least 20 hours or more.

WOW JL, it's so real! I think that's really great that it was on normal paper, cos I'm still having trouble working it all out, maybe it's not so necessary. You create such flowing hair, I love it, I'm going to go admire it abit more
