"Spenser"
| |
Hi all. This is my first post. I'm amazed looking at some of the drawings that you guys are doing. My stuff isn't quite in the same league as some of you, but I'm happy with the way I'm progressing. I've been drawing off and on my whole life (mostly off in my adult years..I'm 34 now), but definitely in the amateur category. I picked up a drawing book about a year ago by Gene Franks. I was very impressed with my first drawing I copied from his book. I think the secrets I learned were to layer in my shadows, and not to be afraid of going dark. I've been having a blast doing drawings ever since. Here's a sample: This is my son Spenser. This is one of my favorites. I love the look Franks gives with dark outlines to his drawings. His backgrounds all seem to be in the right place and perfect. Mine looks a little awkward, but I think I needed it to pop out his right side of his face.
