"L & B almost done"

Well guys here is an update on the kids. I am having fun with it because after their accident using them as subjects seemed really important to me. They HATE it (I don't think they realize why or how special doing this is to me) Lauren thinks she looks fat, she asked if I could remove the double chin and thin out her face. She is like a commission customer (they seem to want you to make them something they aren't sometimes) and Barrett just doesn't like me drawing him. After his baseball picture he asked that I didn't draw him again.
Anyway, I have been battleing with his portion of the drawing. My biggest problem was that I was working from wallet size school photo's and I flipped Barrett so that the kids would have their backs together. I found that with flipping him I was trying to hard to imitate the photo. Half way through I realized that his left eye (our right) squints but if looking at the flipped photo it would be the opisite. Anyway, this is as far as I got. It seems the harder I try to nail him the more screwed up I get. Laurens part looks just like her. I guess if anyone can find the old post of Barrett in the Angels baseball cap you could compare the two.
I'll just chalk this up to learning. This is now my 5th people portrait and I can see SOME improvements but not as much as I would like. Barrett will be upset but I found an awesome baby picture of him that really shows those baby blue eyes that I am going to tackle next!

Hi Steph,

The drawing is looking great!

I can understand why it was so important for you to draw them, a lot of heart and soul would have/is going in to this ..... are you writting down how you feel when you are doing this?
I don't want to sound like a therapist...but I'm sure that when they are "grown ups" they will want to know how you felt .

I've yet to draw my kids .....I wonder what their reaction will be when I do
