This is what I worked on over the holiday.I usually just fly thru but this time I spent about 12 hours on the portrait.This photo of Halle Berry was on the cover of Ebony magazine.Let me know what you think

Hey!!! Great!! The question is What do you think? Have you put it next to the drawing of your dad? Leaps and bounds i'd say!! I think it's a wonderful improvment in blending.

Try using the same technique on the hair, put down some base tone deep shadows all the way thru midtones, blend out and then start drawing in the strands of hair on top of the tone. Once finished take a pen eraser cut flat and pull highlights along the strands, this will add some seriuos shape to her hair. It's looking a wee flat.

"Blushing" Thanks absolute,marc,melissa....I worked hard oon the face and when I got to the hair I just whipped thru it.I still have trouble with some shading ...I think this was one of those happy accidents.
