I'm just beginning to draw after many years of not drawing. I bought Mr. Hillberry's book and I'm found this site. I would like for some feed back. If I did this right?

Hi there, I am far from being an expert, but I really do like the eyes in your drawing, and the generals shape looks fine.
But the only thing i would say, is that it lacks some definition where the shadows are. Some different depths of shadows with highlights may help, particulary on the Hair. I hope this helps some.

Experience is that marvellous thing that enables you recognise a mistake when you make it again
Thanks for your comments. This is my 1st attempt at charcoal and I must say I'm having to learn how to develop values all over again. So I tried again.
I looked at your lion and was impressed with your talent. Keep it up.

I think we may have a sleeper here! Great hair Steve. I am struggling with hair right now, and I think you've done an excellent job!

The hair in the second picture is a great improvement in realistic texture, of course there is nothing wrong with the way you did the first one, art is art right, and the subject seems to have an emotional quality that you captured in both attempts. Of course it is a pretty amazing feeling when you get closer to drawing a realistic portrait, or of any subject I'm sure. Anyway, you're getting the hang of it it seems . Can't wait for more!
