"Grandmother mk II"

Heres my grandma. Hope you like it. Faces are really asymmetric. Reference photo is about 1"x1,5" (too small...). I am quite happy with the result, but thanks to this very blurred tiny reference I had to imagine some things up on my own. Maybe I would put here also some close-up sif you want to (there are plenty of them, probably not seen here yet)

Total time 12h. thanks.

MK

Wow, that is excellent, MK! How did you do it from such a small photo? I guess imagination does play a big part. The bottom looks a little unfinished, perhaps (her white shirt maybe should have some shading, but that's a matter of opinion). Great job!

Well maybe i do something to the shirt yet. In the photo it appears to be just "glowing white", so if I render some shadings that will be made up by my imagination too. Usually my references are just about 1"-3" wide and little more height. That works fine as I zoom-in via the photoshop but almost all small details will be lost ;/ that sucks

Thanks for your comments, melissa

Absolute: no they are not, so the set is not possible.. I am so sorry all the pictures I have done lately are based on the photos of my relatives. Hope I can make a deal with a real client someday

By the away, it really pisses me off that people dont understand the value of this kind of works. I dont know if things are any better there overseas but here in Finland drawing is almost waste of time... Still I hope somebody will pay something for drawing someday

yes i see what you are saying...most people dont understand that
its not the medium ,..but the time that is put in to it,..in the few years that ive been looking at other artwork on the web...90% of the time that i see something that tricks me into thinking its an actual photo..and not something created by a person..the medium has been graphite/charcoal.
i also have a few mentors that paint...like julie bell boris vallejo...and some that im just now learning about at this website.
but thanks to the internet things are changing a lot
,..ive been in chat rooms before and people have showed me paintings that they thought were top notch realistic.....and i just yawn and send them to my hillberrys site....that usually quiets them down...or they come back saying that they are not done in graphite or charcoal wich is just as funny.
as much as i hate to say it...people just dont seem to read as much as they use to...and get almost all their information from T.V
im just as guilty myself,
cause before the internet..growing up in a small town watching so much T.V...i had no idea that there was so many extremly talented people out there.,.
.and i had nothing to compare my own work to...so i never drove myself to try to create anything better...i just didnt think it was possible until i seen other people doing it...
but no matter what i draw..i gain 50.00$ off it on a friday night
cause i use to blow that much at the bar with no problem:-)
thats just one way of looking at it for me.
