here is sort of an older drawing that i done using a grey mechanical drawing pencil that didnt have a very good range at all.it looked really mono tone like the last drawing i done at the end....so i added a 3B to it in the parts that i tried to make look black with my grey pencil.i made up the background and sky.......also i was wondering how to bring in learger jpg's?this drawing isnt much bigger then 5x7..but id like to be able to show things closer up...it seems like the only thing i can bring in are pictures that are shrunk down to the smallest web format?

good deal...finally i think i know how to bring in bigger stuff,...Before i started on this one i practiced with my pencils for quite a few hours to see how they react with each other, and also on getting tighter smoother patterns...actual drawing pencils are still sort of a new thing to me,..but anyhow..i didnt blend anything on this one,...i just started out with a 2H,,and i use it for almost everything,..unless something is obviously too dark to shade with it,.
.it helps me keep my scale from getting away from me,..i learned a little from the last drawing i made,..im still using a mechanical drawing pencil, along with my other pencils..but i replaced the lead with HB ,its much darker and has a good contrast with a 2H,..and for stuff thats just a little darker then my lightest pencil..im just using a plain NO.2 cause other pencils just seem way too dark.,..the only reason i use a mechanical drawing with hb lead is cause its very dark, and holds together much better then the other lead i have in darker pencils,..and i dont have to shapen it ,..i can just click away,...and also it makes a really crisp fine black line.im going to keep my fingers crossed while drawing the rest of this one cause every time i think im figuring things out i find out its all wrong,..i still need to goof with a few things on this before i move on.,..but if you are like me..all the different pencils can sure be confusing,...but im having better luck starting with the hardest pencil...and only using darker pencils when i cant use enough pressure with an 2H....like her eyebrows,..wich are HB...her lips are 2H until it didnt look dark enough..then i used a NO.2,...also under her chin is just a plain NO.2..the rest of her skin is mainly H2.....people that have been using drawing pencils for a long time are probvably laughing at this post...but it might be helpfull to people that have never used drawing pencils,..thats mainly why im posting all this, ill kepp adding to it here as i go along.

ok here is as far as im going to go with this one,..i lightened up that hard line on her am,..and changed her lip a little so she didnt have the elvis snare going on ,..the photo i drew this from is about 8x10 but the actual object(her)wasnt very big cause her whole body is in it....i think ill look for something bigger for the next one.,...i took a few scans of this one to try and show it closer up....i was up all night last night,..i started to get sloppy,..i just cant seem to leave them alone when i should sometimes.

Very nice work JIM. She is very beautiful and has great feeling. What amazes me most is your speed. I'm sure that you didn't compromise with the quality at the same time. You have a lot of artistic stamina(is that word correct ??) !!! Keep it up !!!

Thanks srivaey.,..i know it seems like im working fast, but im not working as learge as i should be,most of the things i do are only 8x10 or 5x7 single subjects...this last one took about 4 hours the 1st time i think, and then i started at around 10:00 i think the next night and stayed up until about 5 or 6,..lately i try to walk away from them about every hour or so.just for a few minuites..its really kind of strange when i think about it ,because back when i was about 19 or 20 ..i use to work a midnight shift 11--to 7...and i could sleep all the way up until it was time to go in...and i could never stay awake like that,
mainly i guess cause
i didnt have any interest whatsoever in what i was doing.
i didnt start anything last night..i just went surfing around the web looking at other pencil artist..
i bookmarked 2 of them so far that are really good and im going to invite them to art papa to see if they will join the forum and show their work and explain how they go about drawing.
i done that last week and the guy acted like i was trying to steal his ideas or something
i wish i would have saved his return e-mail cause it was funny.
.take care
