"Shelby's art (a WIP)"
Thanks for the comments and encouragement in the old forum. It helped me decide to really persue my art. Here is one that I'm working on. The image is a little blurry because of my scanner but I thought I would post it anyway.
It's on Strathmore 400 (smooth) paper and I'm using 2B, B, HB, and F graphite pencils. I really like this paper because it has enough tooth to take the soft pencils well but smooth enouph to not get to grainy looking on the mid to very light tones.
I'm trying to acheive all the detail I can in this peice. I'v wanted to tear my hair out a couple of times over the shirt

Shelby,
I hope you have some hair left??? It looks beautiful so far!!! Wonderful... What size is your drawing?
This Drawing is excellent! Great job on the shirt. What really makes me say WOW,! are those details that I know took the artist hours to add to their work, I appreciate the time you spend! It's all the difference in the world.

Thanks a lot for the comments. Actual image size will be about 11" x 12" when it's complete. Marc, I agree that the extra hours spent makes all the difference. I'm reminded of that when I look at Mike Sibley's work and see that completion time is over 100 hours on most of his pieces. It most definately takes a lot of patience though. I think the end result is worth it. I've also seen a lot of great pieces drawn in very few hours on this forum. I guess it depends on the subject, the artist's personal style, and their technique.

This is fantastic Shelby, it looks so real! Very impressive texture with the hair. I saw Mike Sibley's work the other day and was totally stunned, he does absolutely amazing work, I've never seen it that good and so real! Everyone here should take a peek, you won't leave for a while though, he's captivating.
