"Little boy Hank finished"

Well, I have spent a good part of the day scanning and sending pictures to my Dad (he's very close with the parents of the boy) and I think we finally have a winner...winner...chicken dinner!

Stephanie, I really, really like it! It has heart and character. The eyes just sparkle and speak to you! You did a good job with his freckles, too. I have two brothers with red hair and freckles and a sister with red hair and freckles, and I'm sure it would be difficult to draw them, although I've tried (I didn't put much effort into it--basically just sketches). I would be a bit afraid to try, but I guess I should - it's good to try new things. ...Some people might discourage the hard lines around the boy's chin and collar, but I think it gives it more character. There are more ways than one to draw (I know everyone knows that, I'm just saying it again). Keep up the great work! You do have a winner!

Jim,
I scan at 600dpi most of the time. If my pictures are smaller than 11x14 than I can but can't up the dpi. Once I then shrink down the image to about 4x5 and save. Then I go to MGI Photosuit and save at 700xwhatever (keeps proportions) and that usually saves it at just under 70.
I use an old baby diaper (cloth) to wipe down my scanner and when it's not in use I keep a towel over it. I also save at 90% compression. My scanner is a Visioneer One touch 8100. Scans great for the price. Hope this helps.
Oh yeah, Hank reminds me of Richie Cunningham when he was young (like Oppie young).
Steph
