"Little Boy"
I started this tonight and have put in about 5 hours total. Boy has he been a tough one. First of he is white as a ghost with LOTS of freckles and has carrot red hair. Turning this all into a graphite drawing has been a challenge for me. I just started the hair but wanted to get some input on the face, skin, freckle. This would be my.... 5th people portrait. I think I am improving quite a bit. Oh yes, this is on my faithfull Cansons smooth Bristol board, 11x14" in size. Steph The first shot is full and the second is a close up on the face only .
I agree steph, you have improved greatly! I think I like this one most, you have done a nice job of capturing the "Little boy look". How did you create the freckles? Did you draw them and blend or did you draw them with a tortillion? They look good!

2. "RE: Little Boy"
Marc, Thank you. I have now put 10 hours into this guy. His name is Hank and he lives on a cattle ranch. Anyway, I rubbed my tortillion in graphite and then smudged the freckles onto the drawing. I will go back later and do some more. He litterally has thousands on his face. I'm now doing the hair and just pulled out the highlights and will work on softening it up. I'll post another shot again tonight. Any advice? Steph

that looking great stephanie.,one of my ex's had freckles like that and when i drew her i didnt try to put them in,and she got mad,..she thought that i didnt like her freckles,...finally i just convienced her that i didnt know how to do it. but im still not sure she believed me.
Hey Steph. I think my worst nightmare is the drawing your working on.(lol) WOW! I think your doing exactly the way I would, rubbing the tortillion in graphite. Your going to be cross-eyed when you finish!
I like the way you've started the hair. Again I would do it the way you are, blend what you have done (Soften) and then pull highlights and add some shadow hair too.
