Hey Marc! You've done an awesome job on the roses, I think they are amazing.

Great work Marc! As with the rest of the piece, the detail in your roses is outstanding. There seems to be no limit to your skill or your patience.

One observation I can offer is that in your drawing, there appears to be very little difference in value between the roses and the leaves (may be a scanning thing), whereas in the photo the roses really stand out from the foliage. This may not be the effect you are going after, but making a few value adjustments here and there may add to the overall realism of your already stunning bouquet.

Great job on the roses Marc! I like the highlights that you put on the roses in your drawing. It's hard to see that in the photo you're drawing from. Do you draw from a black and white image or the original color photo?

I had a few trouble spots on the piece that I'm working on in the area that bills talking about. In a color photo it's easy to distinguish the differences that we're trying to render because of the color but when looking at it in black and white the values can look really similar.

Hi All!!
Thanks for the kind words I really appreciate them.

Bill, Good eye! In the original the roses are done in charcoal and the foliage is done in graphite, I needed to create some contrast between the two elemnts. the graphite is a much lighter grey. The scan unfortunately strips all that away.

Shelby: I also agree with you, I'm working from the color photo mostly but I also have a black and white on hand. So much more "POP" in the color photo.

MHK: I'll try to post a close-up tomorrow of the roses, I tried to add character to each one by adding little nicks and things trying to avoid the "plastic" look.

Thanks again!!
Peace!

Marc Forest.

The roses look incredible but somehow they take your attention away from the bride, maybe because she is cropped to show the roses. Anyway, great work!

Wow, i can see how you'd get lost in that bouquet, but i think u found your way out very well. The roses are just fantastic, and even if you go back with the tips from here, most people would be astounded by the realism you've achieved already. This is going to be a great drawing, I can't wait to witness the final result!
