"My daughter on Canson ColdPress WC"
Hi all! Well, I decided I was up for a fourth "people" portrait. This time though I thought I would try it on my water colour paper. I have blocks of it all over the house. I actually like the feel of the graphite on it and the way it "sucks up" the graphite too. Anyway I'm attaching the start (about an hour into it) and the reference photo. The reference photo isn't great and is about 3x4" so it's hard to see. When she gets home from school I will make her sit for awhile. Any pointers would help. BTW, I am NOT doing the ugly plaid shirt but will make it denim instead. I HATE that shirt and would prefer to burn it! Steph

I like the feel of it but I really do prefer the Bristol. I may try Bristol (regualr, not smooth) next time. I did notice with the WC paper that it is not as forgiving when it comes to erasing or blending. After awhile of blending it starts to come apart. I was trying a self portrait <gag> and I was wearing a black shirt, when I started layering and blending it started pulling small pieces of the paper up. I finished the picture of my daughter and will post it alone. I have not been able to access the site for days. PS The graph lines are erased. I only do them lightly then draw an outline of what my picture will be and then erase all that I can. Equine and Western Art by: S. Baldwin
