Can I play the guessing game?

Is it one of those rubber blenders attached to a paintbrush handle? (I think it is used for oil painting)

That is my guess too Phil. I think they are used mainly for blending pastels.

OK OK. I will tell. Well Phil I guess it really is no secret. When I go into an art store I am always looking for something, anything that will give me that...something, anything.

So this tool is a rubber blender attached to a paintbrush. Official name is Colour Shaper #6 Taper Point Firm made by Royal Sovereign Ltd. UK. You can get them at ##### blick. I have several shapes all do great jobs at blending. Words of caution; once you use this tool to blend you better make sure it is what you want blended because after being blended it DOES NOT ERASE!!!

Thanks also J.D. for your words of encouragement. I really do feel I am getting better at every portrait. My infamous words around the house are, "this is my best yet". It just so happens it always my most recent one. My family is sick of me. Oh well that is what you have to put up with when you live with an eccentric artist. And I think most artists are a little eccentric. (and proud of it)

a color shaper hmmm?.....that sounds like it would be very usefull ill have to look for one,,,i started out with just a small cup of pencils ,...now with all the other stuff ive been learning about i think i might need a 5 gallon bucket. ive found most of the stuff i want,,..but i asked around for carbon pencils and they looked at me like i was asking for some kind of exotic food.

Sue,

I was looking at some the other week and wondered if they would do the trick. I nearly bought one but then deceided they would probably work more as an erasor than a blender. Looks like I will have to buy one afterall..... I guess I should listen to my instincts more.

Sue, thanks for telling us what your "secret tool" is. I'd like to get one if I can find it, but right now I don't have the money or a strong enough desire to look for it. It does seem to do wonders, though!

If you want the address to the site email me privately and I will give it to you. It seems ArtPapa doesn't like giving out names of websites. They censored mine earlier. But I would be happy to give it to you or anyone ekse that wants it.
