Thanks people! Its nice you like this one! The actual drawings a bit lighter than jpeg but not too much.About technique: Some people have emailed me and asked about the blending technique etc. so I write a little about it, hopefully everyone whos interested please read it here.
First I try to achieve correct tonality. I keep the ref pic open in photoshop to keep the control over the reference so I know where to put it. I try to maintain the references tones, maybe adjusting it slightly if it looks better.
I roughly put graphite where needed, almost everywhere, startin around eyes. I use 2B and HB. Then I start blending with Nessu-tissues. I add graphite to get tones right, remove with blutack if theres excessive tones. I finish using chamois and blutack. Mechanical pencil is used to bring shapes in focus. 2B-6B is used for darkest spots. Blutack is used to create different skin textures.
If I spend 16hours (average) per drawing A3, about 5hours I use pencil, 3hours I use tissues, 1hours chamois, 3hours mechanical pen, 4hours I use Blutack.
Shortly this is my technique at the moment. If somebody wants more info, please contact m@mattikataja.com
BTW, next one is probably Jesus... will be difficult one I believe
