"welcome from the Museum of European Art."

   Dear Mike,
I'm happy to see you will host a forum. I saw your website and was very impressed. Besides being an artist I am also Co-Director of the Museum of European Art ( www.meaus.com ) I am in contact with young and experienced artists all the time. I will definitley send them to your site and to this forum! (I've already been spreading the word about JD Hillberry's and Alexei's forums.)
I have been concentrating on drawing and painting people but also like to do horses and birds. I'll try to attach a drawing of a horse I did, it's 18x24, graphite. I've already bookmarked your learning pages on your website so I can go to it when I have time.
I look forward to seeing everybodies animals!

Mary,
Just being looking at your horse, I like it, especially the shading that you have achieved, it gives it so much definition.

Look forward to seeing some more

Welcome to the forum Mary!

Your drawing contains so much lively spirit - it really captures the moment.

It's also a relatively large piece for a graphite study. Most tend to be smaller as we don't yet have the 1" wide pencil available for putting down large areas of tone. You must be blessed with unending patience

MIKE

   Hi Mike,
I'm happy to be a part of these forums, I'm going to learn a lot.

It's not just having patience in the case of this large drawing, it's having a good babysitter to keep the kids occupied!!

I really consider myself a painter, but all begins with drawing, and I love drawing. I'm starting to return to drawing as an artwork itself, usually I just do sketches to prepare for a painting. But I see you have taken it to the highest level, your work is amazing.

I hope I can start something new just so I can get your opinion, but for now I have a few paintings going-Classic and Celtic Mythology themes.

Hi Glenn,
thanks for the nice comment, like I told Mike I'll have to work on some new stuff like you so you can critique mine! I'll check out your website when I get a chance.

Nature is not something that can be seen by the eye alone- it lies also within the soul, in pictures seen by the inner eye.
