Go to Mike's site and go to his home page. Click on the "Tools I Use - Tutorial" section. Look across the top and you'll find a button for Blu-Tack. Click on it, scroll down and it shows you a picture of the package. This should help you figure out if you're using the same stuff. I doubt that you are because Bostik is based in the UK.

People have tried other brands on this side of the pond but say that blu-tack is superior for removing graphite without leaving a residue or wrecking your paper. The brand does seem to matter.

Quote hmmmm i dunno, it's called adhesif reutilisable, for the wall right?....i don't know what brand, i thought they're all the same, i got it from someone else....they look like rectagle sticks..i dunno

There you go Gary - you just answered your own question. Just because it's blue doesn't make it BLU-TACK.

I've tried others - Uhu, Tak 'N Stick, Hold Tu........ and they don't come close to Blu-Tack. The others, as you've discovered, are more like kneaded erasers.

Just read what Becca wrote above. I have tons of feedback like that so it doesn't just work for me...

...... and....... it's not officially available in the US. I've only ever found one US website that sells it (for putting under HiFi speakers to stop them moving -- it's versatile stuff!) but they're charging $10 a pack.

It's made by Bostik in the UK and Australia.

hmmmm i see, this is quite disappointing it's not sold here, unfortunate indeed...

Anyhow, thank you Mike and Becca for such a swift response.

Gary

You can order some from Mike through his website. It took less than a week to arrive here from the UK. And it's only like $3-4 per pack plus the exchange. Pretty good deal for an effective product. I've done two drawings using it and I've only gone through 1/4 of a package.

   Gary,

the stuff lasts, and lasts, and lasts.... it really works! And not only is it a great graphite remover, but... it holds posters to the wall, takes dog fur off your sweaters, great for holding flowers in position in vases, emergency putty in window frames, emergency repairs to broken reading glasses, holds pencils in position on the drawing board... need I go on? (yes! I have used it for all of the above!) Order from Mike through his website - order 2 or 3 packets, you won't regret it. And it doesn't stain like that yellow stuff!

...Mike? I hope Bostick are paying you a commission!!!

I wish.........

I wrote to Bostik some time ago and received a welcoming reply from the MD in which he gave me the contact name of the Sales Manager, should I need assistance in furture. However, despite more than one heavy hint from me ................. I still can't buy the stuff at trade prices!

Maybe 100-pack orders are too much for them to handle?......

I just wanted to say that Blu-tack (Bostik) is widely sold here in scandinavian, theres actually no other substitutes around. But I believe its still cheaper there in UK.

Mike, I do use it also under my hifi loudspeakers It also kills some bad vibes

...kneaded eraser didnt seem to want to take things out very good....rolling it just results in ......nothing

Jim, I call Blu-Tack a graphite magnet because it picks it up with the merest touch.

Also you can pull it to a really fine point and it cleans up highlights like magic. If you try that with a kneaded eraser you'd need to twist it or rub it or move it in some way on the paper to make it collect graphite grains. But Blu-Tack just needs to be touched to the surface with no mechanical movement required at all.

i noticed that about kneaded erasers....like the one i did of madonna,i had trouble lifting out a section that wasnt really very thick at all,...but i had to apply pressure after i flattened it like a stamp,,,but from pushing on it ,,,,that created a ring of graphite ?....mabye because its shoving the graphite bunching it up............?errrrrr ,,,who knows........im on my way to your website,,,even if it only picks things up a little better then this kneaded putty i think it would be worth it,,here is my credic card number 9856D-x842--912 ,......lmbo........like id post that here.
but i am seriously going to order some,
