   hey you!!

see.. i came, just for you! lol
Nance...i'm pretty impressed, i really am. the eyes tho, upper lids look more like they hit a straight perpendicular line to the nose and the inner corners of the eyes are darker( shadow directed at the nose) gives a sharp and angular look to the cat's eyes. but wait wait!!!! before u even remotely think about changing anything, i say i like it the way it is-
why....?? because the cat looks happy, lol. and what owner doesn't want a happy pet?!! as for the stairs... let's just say they're not, just make ppl wonder!!! in art, less is more alot tof the times, because it makes ppl think...and never, never overpower a subject with it's surroundings...i like it!! and that's it!!!
take care,
Gary

   Dear Nancy,

Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your 'happy' California cat! I have been watching your wip with interest, and am impressed with how you have resolved your issues with the fur and the paws. This is a very successful drawing with a lot of character and charm. When I see the reference photo I am doubly impressed. Don't you wish clients would supply more than one picture? And also I appreciate the way you have not slavishly copied the photo, but creatively interperted it to create an image that is truely individual... and wonderful!

great stuff.

(ps. I knew it was a staircase!)

Quote ...she has a purebred Eskimo and her Mother's a photographer so she has really good photos. Might be and idea......Any ideas? I'm open to it all.

An Eskimo dog! Wow!

Unless I'm thinking of a Malamute or Siberian Husky in error - Eskimo Dogs present a great challenge with those piercing light blue eyes. It would make a great subject.

Mike- Yes a Purebred Eskimo (she said they're fairly rare - the purebreds are). Actually I have to admit that I'm not sure what she's taking about (my dog knowledge isn't what it used to be
), but if it's that much of a challenge I'll probably end up doing one.....I'm beginning to think that I'm a masochist!

I've always loved Shar Pei's so I have been thinking of doing one of those, but all of those adorable wrinkles! -gee that would be challenging too!

I guess it depends on when I can get good reference photos...so I really have no clue right now!

Linda - Thank you! As soon as I get more batteries for my camera I'll post the finished piece. Glad you recognized the stairs...as a woman maybe it comes from years of picking stuff up off the the stairs
