This looking great. You have caught that thick, dense fur they have really well. I feel as though I can bury my fingers into it.
And he looks soooooo relaxed. Tough day in the gum trees.

Maybe a little more form/modelling in the outstreched leg to give it a bit more shape?

I love him. It is really hard to do something different with a koala that doesn't look too 'touristy' - great pose, great approach.

Hi Lynne,

What a superb pose! He looks so safe and secure wedged into that fork as he dreams of being drawn by Aussie artists

I really like the subtle colouring but I would like to see a little more definition. It may just be a result of the scan but I think it's lacking a bit of punch and sharpness. Not too much - it's a soft, dreamy subject - but the tree trunk seems to have the same soft qualities as the fur. If the trunk just looked a little harder it would, by simple contrast, soften the fur even more.

But I'm just nit-picking here -- it's a lovely choice of pose and a well executed drawing.

(PS: Don't forget to click on the JPEG radio button next time you upload a picture here. JPEG is no longer the default setting.)

Thanks Linda!...I know what you mean about the touristy thing....for years I have avoided rendering our own native animals(shameful I know) due to that tourist shop appeal most of our natives do tend to look like ''stuffed toys''and yes I've been doing a little more work over the last day or so, will upload the finished piece in a moment....thanks for taking time to comment...

Don't be sorry.........Whatever it is - when you find out tell all of us !! Most of us have trouble getting them big enough and under 70K.

Only 30K and in colour! Sheesh!!!!!!!

You don't turn base metals into gold for a hobby do you?

Seriously, I like it that size - we get a proper look at it and can fully admire your technique.

Lynne - I think your Koala is absolutely gorgeous! I love the pose and the texture of his fur is so realistic and soft.

This is a beautiful drawing

vicklyn...thanks for that

mike, it just looks very pixely, it is a tighter drawing then it looks here.....yes well at least you can see all the colours..I suppose, I think it must have been something I did when I made the image bigger after I cut down on the pixels...that probably doesn't make any sense....I'm not technical when it comes to computers!

Rebecca.......thanks also for your comment..........

looking as great as always lynne.--!
have you ever seen the famous artwork named "trail of tears...or end of trail?...not sure wich is right....but its of an american indian on horseback at the edge of a cliff, thats what this riminds me of for some reason,..awesome artwork..he just looks sad.
i burned a picture one time with close to the same idea..only i added two wolves to it ..just to represent how wolves have practically disapeared in north america....mabye there is still a lot left,,,but im an indiana boy and the only thing ive ever seen was fox...and only once,......zillions of deer....but not many prey animals...mabye they are just too sneaky for me
