"Just a couple side notes on this drawqing"
 |
sorry to post this here but the other forum is closed today?and on my birthday of all days..i just turned 20 for the 33 rd year in a row!!........i just wanted to explain something that worked pretty good for me on my latest hair do, it looks like a lot but it really isnt,,,,and obviosly i didnt draw hair with that much detail from a wallet size photo,...i hand picked a very learge photo of her.and done it at size..it took up every bit of an average size sheet of printer paper.....then i graphed it as tight as i could ...mainly just for the eyes then the hair,....in each sectiion i looked for the darkest line that showed direction of wich way it was flowing...just kind of sketcy at 1st...then i used long skinny lines with a mechanical drawing pencil going back and forth folowing that direction as much as i could from one end to the other,....it would take the rest of your life to do it exactly the way the photo is,....so i just done them in general so to speak, then darkened the shadows with the side of a 3b...and last of all..i just erased out the highlights,.... ill scan the photo also here in just a few....i know hair is a real pain in the *** so im still experimenting,....and thought mabye this would be helpfull to someone. i think for those of you with blue tack this would work better for the highlights...cause it has better pulling power from what ive heard,....i dont know if this would work for all hair cause in smaller pics of it so much is hidden by the shadows.....this is the 1st time ive tried this method and it works pretty good for close ups of hair in full light. also its important to know this drawing is HUGE....full sheet for just a head shot is prettty big to me. take care JIM
