"ground squirrel/Chipmunk small 5x7"

howdy wild lifers,
here is a small drawing i done yesterday only about 4--to 6 hours mabye, i only planned on doing the squirrel,.so the chipmunk was just sort of a last minuite thing i thought he was pretty cute the way he wants to steal the nut the squrrel is munching on.
im trying to get more animals on my site cause i know just because i think models are interesting,it doesnt mean everyone does.
ive been trying to get my woodburnings listed at the pyro- museum for a long time and finally recieved a return e-mail from them from at least 2 months ago if not longer,
that was pretty uplifting because most pyrographers never respond to my e-mails...i was starting to think mabye my wood burnings just plain stunk....i have a link for them too on my site as well as a second page i opened up for just my wood burnings. most of the woodburnings are pretty old so i was wise to not make close ups of the older ones but they bring back good memories for me.
i know this drawing isnt exactly eye candy art,i just used short lines almost like stippling in a way ,and used more of them to build up mass on the furr but i thought it was a cool idea anyhow.

Jim - I know absolutely nothing about wildlife but these two chipmunks look really good although the one with the nut looks a little overweight (too many nuts?). Seriously, these guys look cute and furry to me!

Did you draw this from your imagination or from a reference pic?

Cute little guys Jim...I don't think the chipmunk has a chance at the nut though. And you know those woodburnings are outstanding! Can't wait to see the next one.

Why so apologetic? It's a well-studied amusing drawing and your approach seems about right to me. Short straight lines is a whole lot better than bulk shading! And short straight lines force you to concentrate on a relatively small area at a time and study its form, which in turn is bound to be translated by the weight and tonal density of the lines that your drawing.

I don't know why I'm saying all this? You know it already

It's an excellent drawing for only 4-6 hours work and it does it's job. Who could want more?
