ooooo. a motor drive I would kill for! But I still love my old manual Cannon Ftb... nothing much automatic about it giving total control of light, speed, apperture, etc. Just slow to use....
I'd be lost without my old Canons. I used to have two AE1 bodies and a 300mm one-touch zoom lens -- but one was stolen at Crufts about eight years ago. Fortunately it was insured..... and even more fortunately the "replacement" was better than the one I lost. It wasn't possible to get another 300mm lens so instead I got a good 200mm with a 2x converter.
I've since sold one of the AE1s (auto-exposure)and replaced it with an A1 (auto-exposure or auto-aperture). Neither camera is still available and I've always bought good second-hand ones.
And (just to really make you drool
).... I have two motor drives - because one once let me down and I can't afford for that to happen again if I'm on a far-away shoot.
This lot enables me to photograph a big dog from about 20 feet or more away (at 15 feet I can zoom right in to just the nose). At this distance the dog ignores me and just behaves naturally. I bought my first motor drive when I realised how many good shots I was losing as I wound on the film. Now I can take two shots a second without ever taking the camera from my eye or my eye off the dog. Wonderful invention! .... and greatly loved by Kodak as they use up an enormous amount of film!
