what I always do before I close my paints is whipe off any paint that is on the ridges.

for opening them up try losing the paint on the ridges with turpintine...I don't know if this one will work because Its just something I learnt in Boilogy in grade ten.I used it once for a lab,but I used water and acrylic paint.N-e-ways I'm confusing myself.

Oh,good luck with your painting.

The most simple way: DO NOT TIGHT CAPS STRONGLY; otherwise pliers (or hot water) have to be used to open some of them.
Careless paint manufacturers use caps poorly designed (with sharp edges) very bad for delicate hands, too.

I always have a small cigarette lighter (used for this purpose only) and heat the mouth of the tube (very slightly) and it comes off easily.... works for me, hope it helps. Joy

i finally bought a "good grips" brand jar opener. it works perfect, even on really old tubes.
