1. "RE: use of fixative"
 |
you must use some sort of fixative, even if you frame the drawing immediately. there are many kinds. i find that most aerosol fixatives dont really work that well, and the aerosol things have a tendency to clog, which necessitates vigilance on the part of the fixer to make sure he/she doesnt accidentally ruin a drawing with large yellow globs of fixative. if you use aerosol fixative, always test it on a blank piece of newsprint to make sure it is coming out as a fine mist, with no droplets. you can unclog the this by soaking it in a mixture of hot water with a drop or two of vinegar. remember to rinse it in clean water and dry it before you use it. i personally prefer blowing fixative on myself. the aerosols and fumes are not really an issue, and i can control how much i want on. certain parts of a drawing neeed, in my opinion, a custom application of fixative which the blow on method is the best for.you can buy a blower and fixative liquid at a "pro" type art store or online. hope this helps. jai guru deva om |
