i think under the skin is key, if you ever want to get away from photos and draw stuff you think up. models arent even a substitute, becasue they cant hold a pose, theyre hard to get when you want them, and the figure in action is not what a model provides.

definitely look for those titles in a library. but buy them. you wont be wasting your money. also, since theyre out of print and very valuable to artists, they will probably be worth more as time goes by.

im still learning a lot about anatomy. i have the skeleton pretty well, and the basics of muscles, at least enough to compose a convincing ddrawing, especially if the figures are clothed. but i think relly learing that ##### takes a lifetime. maybe you never master it. i dunno.

im going to start a new thread with a post of a block in for a protrait of my wife and daughter, that is going to be a portrait done in the antonov seven layer method, soup to nuts. im going to post every stage. check it out as it goes along. so far, its just a block in sketch on newsprint, which ill transfer to paper to produce a finished drawing, then transfer that to canvas and start painting.

maybe some people will learn from it, but im hoping ill learn from others. i always get tentative and overwork drawings/paintings of people i love, as opposed to people i dont know that well. im hoping objective criticsm will override the super critical voice in my head that makes me keep changing things until i kill the piece.
