Good day fellow artists:
I'm watching the still-life video and I have some uncertainties of which I'm certain you can help with. Here are my questions:
1) In the Dead Underlayer, is Mr. Antonov:
a) Using/Adding medium (Damar, Turpentine, and lav. oil) with the oil paint? (Also, in the color layers is he adding the medium to the oil paint?)
b) Applying the dark mixture over the darkest shadow areas and background? (That is, is he simply allowing the darkest tones from the umberlayers to shine through and thus not applying dark mixture to these areas?) To which shadow areas should I apply the darker mixtures to? 2) What is he using to thin the darker tones that are supposed to be thinner and more transparent (for the shadow areas and middle tones)? (Turpentine alone? Medium? Linseed oil?)
3) Does he use cold-pressed linseed oil? or Raw linseed oil? or just plain 'ol regular linseed oil?
4) What kind of blending brushes does he use?
