i started did this davinci repro for a painting class 2 years ago, before i knew what i was doing. under the verdaccio is two layers of umber underpainting. the rest of the surface thus far is a hodge podge, as you can see, some color sketched in (during initial block in, i didnt do a prep drawing) very little detail suggested in dress hair, despite a rather thick application of umber. it wasnt quite paste, but it definitely wasnt thin enough.

can i finish the underpainting in umber and then proceed with the rest of the "dead" layer? i hate unfinished pieces, and id like to complete this, but im not going to invest all the time of the seven layer process if its only going to look a disjointed POS.
