Artist Alexei Antonov. Philosophy and Technique

"Welcome to the New Old Master Fine Art.

Centuries ago people invented a wheel, domesticated a dog, introduced seven musical notes... for us, their descendants, to use. Renaissance artists invented an oil painting technique unsurpassed to this day.

Then why we so ungratefully neglect the highest achievements of Renaissance artists and mock art consumers with worthless experiments?

Beauty does not need explanation, moreover, it can explain many things itself. The most beautiful work of art is the one that reaches your mind and heart without art critics' help.

Classical painting, not to be confused with figurative or realistic painting, is very real. Classical paintings, though very real, are not to be confused with the contemporary figurative and realistic styles. This is art for all those of us who have lamented the decline of beauty and grace with the increase of technology and industry. As we develope new, faster ways to do things, we often lose touch with the better ways. I has re-established that link through my paintings.

The Classical art school does exist, and is prepared it for the twentieth-first century We all prepare to meet the twenty-first century in various ways. Take a look at how I am preparing with my paintings, and how Classical art is prepared to reclaim its place. My Classical painting is my route to the twenty-first century, and I invite you join me...

Alexei Antonov"

Classical realism is not just a passive rendering of the subjects. On the one hand it is a creative process of the piece of art with the precise following of the rules and requirements which have been created during Renaissance Epoch and polished up later by the greatest artists from generation to generation.

Basic insignia of the paintings which are being done in classical technique:

Multiple layering, optical color mixture, 3D illusion effect. (not the curfews with a glazing technique, which could be the small part of classical layering applications)

Here are the examples of Flemish masters technique stages :
